I recently bought myself a new 3/4 size classical guitar.
3/4 size so that it will be easy to take travelling with me.
I used to play the guitar with, well lets us say an enthusiastic badness back in college. Since then I have picked one up now and again, but the time feels right to spend a little time getting to know those musical parts of my brain again.
“I like music,” she said slowly, “because when I hear it, I . . . I lose myself within myself, if that makes any sense. I become empty and full all at once, and I can feel the whole earth roiling around me. When I play. I’m not . . . for once, I’m not destroying, I’m creating.”
― Sarah J. Maas, Throne of Glass
And the amazing thing is that despite laying dormant and neglected for so many years, the muscle memories, the chord shapes, the finger picking have all sat waiting.
Embedded somewhere unvisited and mysterious and, so it seems, ready to roll.
So I pick up a guitar and play. Albeit somewhat clunky and clumsy and melodically misspoken.
Enthusiastic badness….I still got it.
