Yesterday was the first decent drop of rain we have seen in quite a while.
A perfect opportunity to queue up some cool Jazz on the stereo and book out our Japan trip.
Due to circumstances beyond our control this will be a last minute lunge at seeing Japan before winter snugs in. We will be leaving in eight days. It will be colder than we wanted, and we will be lucky to catch the last droppings of Autumn.
Danmit. The flights are pretty much booked out….so in order to sit next to each other we have been allocated seats where the cattle class go to die. Likewise, hotels will be chosen based on proximity to local train stations rather than aesthetic aloofness.
It will be a simple trip. Three cities. Tokyo to Hakone. Hakone to Kyoto. And then back to Tokyo. 14 days all up. Sprinkled with a topping of day trips away.
Fear not. As is always the case with last-minute, under-planned, low-expectation, sub-optimal trips….it will be awesome.
