Its 40C outside and my dog is not impressed.

Scorching temperatures and high winds push on through a nervous day for much of Australia. The bushfire warnings are at the level ‘Catastrophic’ in many places (Victoria and South Australia are particularly at risk) and there are already reports of homes lost to fires.

Pretty much it is just too bloody hot to go outside and do anything. I think about those people that have no choice but to work out in that environment. Crazy.

And I think about the future of this sunburnt country as climate breakdown slowly (perhaps not so slowly) pulls at the hems of civil society. Meanwhile the Australian government continues with its plans to advance 94 new coal and gas projects(source).
The bullshit is steaming hot.

My dog is not having any of it. After scoffing his breakfast and a dawn walk to check his pee-mails before the worst of the heat rolls in, he has made basecamp on his favourite cushion directly under an air conditioning vent. Todays toy of choice (the elephant) remains close at hand.

–ooOoo–

One piece of advice: never miss an opportunity to photograph your dog. No matter what the temperature.
