Took this photo today of a harmonica player busking in town. Walked past him a couple of times wanting to capture his image but felt a little awkward asking him.
He looked a little wild and unkempt, and those monochrome essences that I found photographically interesting spoke of a difficult life that I didn’t want to belittle by sticking a camera in his face just so I could satisfy my inclinations.
I see this gentleman often on his tiny patch of ground. His music is enthusiastic blues. He smiles often at passers by, and chats with the lingerers.
In the end I said fuck-it and sat down for a short conversation with him. Turns out he was totally on board for a photo, which I hope captures the moment with some grace and dignity.
