Monochrome high contrast photo of woman wearing a hat at the top of a staircase. She is backlit by the outside sky.

Arrival

I knew this was going to be a great shot. I had embedded myself at the bottom of the stairs, and the low-key, high-contrast composition with the luminescence of the steel handrail on the left and the leading lines and textures was chef’s kiss.

Circular logo containing the text: 100% human generated. In the centre is a scribble drawing of a brain.

All I needed was for someone to arrive at the top of the stairs to make a silhouette against the light. Not long to wait before a lady (wearing a hat…for bonus points!) came into the shot.

Yet she was faffing around with her phone (of course) and some papers and she kept walking behind the big pillar on the right. She would step out….I would just be ready to shoot and she would step back into the shadow again.

Infuriating. Is she doing this on purpose?

Come on lady….just a little bit more….just a little bit more….one more step….and…..snap.
