As you know, I am trying to improve my photographic skills. Today I rode my bike into town with my camera (a Canon M50 in case you were wondering) to try a little more street photography.
I am still very self conscious walking around with a camera in my hand. This is compounded by the very real fact that many people these days are not too happy to have their photo taken out and about in public spaces, (a lively topic in the photography forums)….and the shutter sound on my camera rings forth with a seeming 240 decibels of artistic betrayal.
Hey! This creepy old goatee dude just took your photo!
So…I must snap forth with an admixture of stealthful cunning and overt respect.
I took the top photo outside a cafe, and I am super happy with it.
The composition is interesting. I like the glow of light on their faces and the way you can peer through and see the chef in the background. And the little pot of red flowers just pops.
Im sure the more professional photographers would pick through this pic with ample criticisms, but for me the chuffed factor is high. In fact, this might just be my favourite photo so far1.
This motivates me to keep learning and developing this skillset.
Moreover, I am really enjoying the process which is reason enough in itself to ….onwards.
However, I won’t show you the twenty seven other pics that were simply pants (ie crapola) and ended up in the wastepaper basket ↩︎
