Black and white is worth the fight.

Fujifilm XT5: ss 1/320 | f4.8 | ISO 125

Im feeling very monochromatic today.
Nothing to do but drag Kelly hither and yon as I look for potential black and white snapshots.

Let’s just go over here….no, wait, up on the other side of this sketchy-looking culvert…cool, now follow me as I plow through this crowd of people…no, actually I think back in the original spot.”

I’m pretty sure she is secretly hoping I’ll put down this whole photography fad thing and take up something altogether less socially annoying. Like bagpipes.

Meanwhile. Exploring layering images (think window reflections, and objects at different perspective points), and textures and contrasts. Suck the colour out of the world and imagine the shot.

It is amazing how hanging a camera around my neck completely changes the way I see the world. Everything is in relationship to everything else.

Everything is composition.

And speaking of composition. Later, sitting at a cafe, Kelly passes me her phone. “Look, this set of hand crafted pipes are on special and come with a free sporran.”

A free sporran? That’s a little tempting I won’t lie.
