Tokyo.

Our first day in Tokyo.
We travelled all over checking things out. Our feet are minced-moosh our thighs are bamboo….but it was worth it. This place is amazing.

Observations thus far:

  • People are far more trusting, oftentimes leaving their bags, laptops and phones unattended on tables in coffee shops whilst going to the toilet etc.
  • There are dress standards. As a generalisation, the majority seem to take a lot more care in their fashion appearances. My dress style is grunge meets op-shop at the best of times, and I definitely feel underdressed here in Tokyo. Even those dressing a little more ‘funky’ seem to do so with style and pizazz.
  • My attempts to crash course some essential Japanese have been sketchy. Luckily most people we have met speak embarrassingly good English (some better than me) and have rescued me from my gushings of linguistic faux pas.

Today we are off to explore Asakusa. Tomorrow we travel to Hakone.
