Goggle girl.

When photographing people, I am looking for someone interesting.

Interesting is interesting. It may be something they are wearing or something they are doing or some trait they are exhibiting.

Mainly when looking for interesting, I am looking for something they are being.

In heaven, all the interesting people are missing.

— Friedrich Nietzsche

Interesting people have a certain ambience, an air of having led a life outside the ordinary. They have an intrinsic coolness. Passion, grace and cool. Cool not as in aloof or temperate, but cool as in Pablo Picasso, or WS Merwin or Miles Davis, or that girl that works in my local Art supply shop (there are countless examples).

Interesting is simply the outward manifestation of an inner engine of expressive presence. Usually (but not always) they are creatively living life as it unfolds… with no fucks given.

One day I hope I might be interesting.
