So we wake up this morning to a second term of Labor Government in Australia following yesterday’s federal election.

Whilst I am far from happy¹ with Labor’s performance to date with respect to climate change² and its abject failure to appropriately tax the fossil fuel industry and its ethical failure to curtail the activities of the gambling industry, or to provide affordable housing for first home buyers or to provide quality tertiary education without placing students in long term crippling debt or in providing quality, responsive health care….despite all that, it is reassuring to see that Australia as a nation is resisting the global creep to fascist far right (or far left for that matter) ideologies.

1. Note: I admit to being a bit (ie dismally) naive when it comes to the deep machinations of politics.
   And with that in mind, my full disclosure is a leaning towards the anarchy, Marxist, socialist ends of the spectrum. ↩︎
2. I strongly believe we are woefully far behind where we need to be with our preparedness to meet the impending social, economic and ecological collapses that a growing body of climate change science is forewarning. ↩︎
