Monochrome photo of marketplace. A woman wearing a puffer jacket (seen from behind) is carying a bunch of flowers. In front of her two dogs are greeting each other.

She bought flowers for him.

Or perhaps for her.

This lady was walking along in front of me at the markets. I just lifted up my camera and fired off a picture without even checking the focus, aperture, etc.

Considering that, I think it turned out OK. I didn’t even notice the two dogs in frame until I downloaded it later.
I love it when a photo ends up showing me something unexpected.

–ooOoo–

And what about the price of fresh flowers these days?!?
I really like tulips, and there was a florist at the markets selling small bunches….$25 AUD for perhaps six flowers.

Perhaps I am being overly persnickety considering it is mid-winter, and they were an independent seller and they were in really good condition.
Damn it, too many birthdays doth make Ian a cynical old man.

See? Now I’m feeling guilty for not buying a bunch.

I’m in two minds about flowers. The first is buying them is a symbol of my love for my much better other; the second is why does it have to involve the death of beautiful living things? My wife and I now buy potted plants, which we try to look after (my latest endeavour being an avocado tree I sprouted from a seed. Avocado trees are not symbols of eternal love, I was bluntly told, but are still lovely IMHO).

Before we sold our house and downsized, we had a rose bush for the same reason. Our love still could be symbolised by flowers, and the flowers could continue their lives attracting bees and other things. Win win, really.
