iPhone 17? Nope.

Well the latest iPhones have just dropped.

Circular logo containing the text: 100% human generated. In the centre is a scribble drawing of a brain.

I have been an Apple guy since way back when Adam was a boy. I remember my gobsmacked awe when the first iPhone totally upended the existing mobile phone paradigm.

Remember that?

These days its just…..meh.
Wiping away the thick hype patina, all I see is just more incremental improvements that I will not even notice by the second day after unboxing.

Besides, I have updated my internal software over the years (currently v8.7) and now I am completely disillusioned with this capitalist, techno-fascist supporting corporation.

A dissolution made even more resolute after noting Tim Cook’s recent suck-up dinner with Donald J Trump and the other tech-bro oligarchs.

Oh, and if that is not nauseating enough, you can get your brand new iPhone 17 in Trump (cosmic) orange. Whilst stocks last.

True. I am deeply enmeshed in the Apple ecosystem. And in many ways, I still love the way it all integrates. When I use it skilfully it does value add to my life.

But I will not be upgrading. At least not until my old iPhone 12 bricks.

And even then, it will not be with excitement as much as with a saddened resignation, a cognitive dissonance at the depth of my technological reliance.

  1. I love my Apple ecosystem, I use my MacBook and iPad Pro daily and my iPhone 16 Pro Max takes mighty fine photographs.

I do agree with your views though, especially the Donald Trump view. Ugh!

Still, I’m downtown with how well my Apple devices all work together.
