Black and white photo close up of the face of a small white dog.

Nobody saw nothing.

Final packing check before leaving for Japan.
My dog watches on with that pre-you’ve-abandoned-me look in his eyes. He knows.

Hey Im going to miss you dude. I would take you if I could.

I remember a shift I worked in the emergency department where one of our patients relatives had a small carry-bag sitting on the floor besides her. A bag that we noticed was moving.

Having a pretty good idea what was going on, I strode over to sort things out.

Im afraid you cannot bring a dog in here.

“Im really sorry”, the lady said. But it’s not a dog.
She leant forward and unzipped the bag. Just a little bit.
And out popped the head of a tiny baby kangaroo!

“I work as a volunteer for WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service)….and she needs feeding every hour right now”.

This caused an immediate vociferous hubbub in the department as staff reprioritised their various emergencies to come over and sneak a peek at the Joey. It was so cute.

We had a staff huddle to discuss the crisis… and pretty quickly decided that nobody had seen nothing.

The occasionally wriggly bag remained on the floor throughout. And occasionally the lady was spotted bottle-feeding her tightly swaddled baby. Nothing to see.

—ooOoo—

So, Im thinking.
If I smuggled my dog on board the flight to Japan. You know, in my carry on…..would he be just about cute enough that nobody would see nothing?
