Of painting and slow moments.

Mike Dutton is an artist, filmmaker, and art director based in Berkeley, California. Someone recommended his YouTube channel which I initially skimmed thru on my smartphone whilst sitting in a parked car, assessed as a bit boring and moved on.

Much later. For some reason I came back and watched it again, but this time early in the morning and with a slow mind. And you know what? It is really good.

Through my ongoing project, Pedal & Paint, I travel by bicycle to paint on location, making films and sketches that celebrate quiet roads, overlooked corners, and moments that are easily missed. Whether I’m riding across Kyoto, painting California coastlines, or wandering close to home in Berkeley, I am most interested in the stories that take shape during these little adventures, and the unexpected conversations, discoveries, and moments of reflection they leave behind.

When I’m not painting or filming, you’ll probably find me exploring with my wife and our two kids, each carrying our own journal or sketchbook.

So now, I am recommending it to you…..
