The Carrington Hotel (Katoomba) is a four storey resort-hotel originally built in 1882.
We have visited it on many occasions over the years, each time in a different state of renovation or deterioration.
Today, it is pretty darn cool. A magnificent showing of Art Nouveau architecture and Edwardian decor. Flaunting a ballroom, billiards room, library, and plenty of display cabinets holding the hotel’s historical conglomerations…the ambiance is warm and calm, the mood is bygone days.
And by the number of people checking in (many of them young overseas travellers) whist we were there, the Carrington and its Nouveau vibe seems to be a popular destination.
