Catching winter light.

Kelly had just returned from a trip away. It was late and I went outside to help her unpack the car.

On my way back with a case in tow when the sensor light over the porch turned off. A shaft of warm light spilled from the window illuminating a dried clutter of leaves on the ground.

It was a moment.
I took a couple of breaths to stretch it. The colours fine tuned, and the leaves spoke and the light sang soft choral.

Wait, I thought (killing it all), this would make a cool photo. I scuttled inside to grab my camera. Passing Kelly on the way back out who no doubt thought me nuts to be taking my Canon out into the winter night (instead of helping with the rest of the luggage for cripes sakes),

I waited for the sensor light to cycle off again. And snapped off six photos trying to capture the thing that was there before and now was gone.

It was too dark for the exposure and I didn’t have a tripod and Kelly was calling more cripes sakes at me.

One of the photos came out sorta OK.
But what you see is not what you get.
