Cold Toes and Commuting: Winter Challenges with an eBike

Up early this morning for a routine dental appointment. I had planned to ride my eBike the 10 kilometres or so across town to the Kingston foreshore.

I brought my bike with the firm resolution to use it as a substitute for car transport whenever possible.
Up until now this has been an easy option with mild sunny days. But now it’s winter.

Expectations were for a cold morning and I braced myself for the ten thousand sticky reasons I would throw up for taking the car instead.

In the end, when the moment of truth arrived I succumbed to reason 4,245: My toes will get too cold if I ride. I mean, who wants to sit in the dentist chair with frostbitten tootsies? Right?

Bugger. I thought I was made of more steely stuff than that.

Oh well…..on the legitimising bright side, I had enough time for a pre-dental take away coffee in the still, frosty light.
