Back from the 7-day Sesshin (zen meditation retreat). I only took one photo, with my iPhone on the last morning. The wooden block is called a Han and as part of my role as Jiko (timekeeper) I would hit the Han (there is a set ‘song’ that you play out over 10 minutes) at various times during the day to call people back to the Dojo (meditation room). I guess you could say I was doing a Han Solo¹.
