Just a very brief update on my prostate situation (as if I haven’t overshared this stuff enough already…you ain’t seen nothing yet).
Meeting with my specialist yesterday, and he is pleased with my recovery post Trans Perineal Laser Ablation (TPLA).
Most excellently, he gave me the green light to travel overseas, so now we are scrambling to try to squeeze our Japan trip in before it gets too cold over there.
So this is all good news, and as I have a family history of prostate cancer we will be keeping a close eye on things moving forward.
Wait, there is more good news…..
He also informed me that studies have shown around 19 ejaculations a month may offer some protection against prostate cancer1. Wait what!?!
Um….can I have that in writing?
Kelly? Doctors orders.
Now, I could at this point do a literature search and provide links to supporting evidence based studies on this.
But no….after all my specialist is an associate professor… he should know his stuff should he not?2
So….goals.
And as it is (checks calendar) already the 16th of the month, please excuse me, I have some catching up to do.
—ooOoo—
- This potential beneficial effect of ejaculation frequency on prostate cancer risk is poorly understood but it is thought to decrease inflammation and reduce the concentration of toxins and crystal-like structures that can accumulate in the prostate and potentially cause tumours [source] ↩︎
- I will just let this medical factoid sit in my basket of unexamined confirmation biases….just on the off chance it is poorly supported. ↩︎
