The Forbes Hotel, Sydney.

This is the Forbes Hotel, looking a little worse for wear. The date on the wall says 1836 which makes it one of Sydney’s oldest.

A quick dig online and I can tell you that it was a four-storey red brick building built in the Federation Anglo Dutch style.

It was renovated in 1912 and then again in the 1980’s.
In 2017 the pub suddenly closed its doors without explanation for a significant upgrade (that included plans for a glass rooftop space)…

Then along came COVID and killed off the financing.
So thus it stands.

I can’t really find any updates on where any future of the building lay, other than a note that in 2023 it was up for lease.

Sad to see the old girl looking so dusky. The patina of neglect.
