Greyscale photo of corner of living room. There is a single chair, a low coffee table with some books on it and a guitar in the corner. Behind the chair a large window looks out into a leafy back garden.

A simple room.

I took my camera out with me today….. and all day I took only one photo. Every time a frame presented itself, I just kept second-guessing myself that it was just too boring.

The one photo was of a dog sticking its head out of a car window. I used a slow shutter speed to make it look interesting, instead it was just silly out of focus and un-artistically blurred.

So now I sit here holding my camera and wondering why I am setting the bar so suddenly high. Trying to be the photographer that I am not. Missing all the wonders of simple things. Trying to post photos here to impress you instead of therapeutically satisfying me.

Lifting the lens I snap the corner of my living room. In the late afternoon light it is an ember of serenity. A chair, a guitar, some framed photos I took. Just so. Just being what it is. Satisfying.
Thats the pic.

  1. I love how the things we see every day always have some feel of boring to our eyes yet when one looks at someone else’s “boring” it seems fresh and interesting. Great shot!
