So hot…lets dance!

A few photos taken at the Australia day1 festivities in Canberra. The evening breeze was just starting to cool things down…leading to outbreaks of feathered dancing.

  1. I have mixed feelings about this. Australia day marks the 1788 landing of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove. For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people it is a day of mourning and is referred to as Invasion Day or Survival Day. I think Australia day should be shifted to a different date and 26th Jan made a day to reflect on the tragic history and celebrate the rich cultures of first nations peoples.  ↩︎

  1. 100%. No celebration here but a deep gratitude for being born and living in this country.
