The escalator was taking me down. From one of my favourite bookshops to a cafe on the lower floor. Everyone on the escalator was looking down. Down at the people below. Down at their screens.

For some reason I was impelled to look up. And I saw all this beautiful brutal architecture against a wild and rainy sky. My camera was around my neck so I simply lifted it and fired off a couple of shots.

I thought…people, look up!

Without a doubt, there are definitely times that you should be looking down. Like when you get to the bottom of a crowded escalator where everyone is looking down except you.
