Then there was the time, back in 2001 when, in a desperate attempt to bring attention to the unsafe workloads in our Emergency Department, (almost) the entire ED nursing staff executed simultaneous sick leave across multiple shifts and on consecutive days.
It was a tough time.

Despite getting significant attention both from the media and hospital executive at the time (and promise of imminent resolution), emergency department workloads and patient overcrowding continued to slowly deteriorate.
And they have continued to do so with a sustained political negligence ever since.
