Cafe culture

Sitting at the Byron Bay General Store, a highly instagram-able cafe just outside of town.

Im tucking into a huge açai bowl and reading a book on monistic idealism and quantum mechanics that I found in a second hand bookshop in a town in the middle of nowhere.

Just in case you don’t know, an acai bowl is a sort of breakfast smoothie that originated in Brazil, featuring a thick ice cold puree made from acai berries and then loaded with seasonal fruit and muesli and whatnot.
Im never exactly sure how to pronounce açai (I think it’s a-SAH-ee) so I usually just point to it when ordering.
This particular serving of the pointed breakfast thing is 11 out of 10.
So of course, I need to take a photo of it, or it never happened.

I sit in a shaft of morning sun and read my book…. only Im not really reading. What I am really doing is listening intently to other peoples conversations and imagining other peoples lives.
