Colour photo of a single stick of incense in a ceramic bowl sitting on an outdoor table. The smoke from the incense twirls and twists across the picture.

Incense II.

The word incense comes from the Latin word incendere, meaning ‘to burn’.

To sit in first sun before the liminal curling of a single stick of incense. Sandalwood. Cedar. Leather.

Listening to the variegated song-sounds creep alive to the thrill that they are birds for at least another day.

—ooOoo—

After sitting for a while watching the smoke and my aimless thoughts arise, perhaps from the same place….

….then, hey this would make a nice photo.

So here it is. An interruption to deeper things. Click.

It’s OK. But it’s just a pixilated approximation of the kairos of the burn.

Go find your own stick of incense, and early tomorrow morning find a space to see for yourself.
